My to do list for November.

Can someone please tell me why it’s always like this? Like these last months of the year - which are the best, don’t @ me - always tend to fly by so quickly, I mean? Feels like a punishment of some sort. Summer girlies, stop manifesting. It’s hurting us.

No, but really; it’s probably because September and October were so busy all-round for me (lots of plans and events besides drawing), that I hardly had the time to really appreciate this time of year’s cosiness & its call to actually stay in more. November might remedy that, as these are the things that are at the top of my to do list:

the Christmas commissions.

First and foremost, I have a hell of a lot of colouring to do the next couple of weeks. Christmas is just around the corner, this year’s sketches are as good as finished and approved by my clients, and I want to leave some time to design my own before the rush really starts. I am - once again - super excited about all of it, and I might even put up my tree this weekend, already. To really get into the zone, you know.

Hermit Mode: on.

I have a couple of gigs and a fun little workshop on the agenda this month, but that’s really about it. November is for staying in, rushing less and really enjoying that time inside. That’s why I’m gradually cosying up my place while putting away most of the Halloween decorations. Which is - I actually think - a way of countering my post-spooky sadness, haha. My kitchen, for example, is clutter-free and totally ready for some cosy cooking and constant hot drink-making, my desk is a cosy little nook full of candles, and my biggest shelves are freshly organised and full of lurking books. Bring it on.

Save something extra in the run-up to the holidays.

Never easy, this one, since the end of the year also comes with a lot of bills, but necessary nonetheless. Think budget-friendly cooking, no spontaneous shopping, reading out of my own book shelves instead of buying new ones, making my own decorations by upcycling and, yup; the hermit mode. My bank account sends thanks in advance, haha!

Switch off more.

Because the coming weeks will be rather busy Spells and Pencils-wise, I want to make sure I’m not spending all that time behind a screen. Cosying up the space helps remind me to take advantage of a quiet evening with a book or a brand new puzzle, and in addition I’ll try opting for music in the background instead of a TV series (the new The Cure album is a godsend for that!) more, and - especially- keep an eye on my sleep schedule. I find that last one especially crucial when it comes to having enough energy throughout the whole week.

I’ve also started bullet journaling again, including a weekly tarot pull. This really helps me visualise the week ahead, creates a certain focus, and the whole process behind it simply relaxes me immensely. I had no idea how much I missed it!

Weekly walks.

Even though ‘Hermit Mode’ implies spending a lot of time at home, staying indoors ALL THE TIME is never healthy. Getting some fresh, crisp air is important, and what’s more: very vitalising in these temperatures, and pretty as hell during this colourful season!

Plan some (Christmas) content.

For this blog as well as for Patreon, that is. I regret not making the most of personal favourite October on here, and I’m running a bit behind on this month’s rewards for my Patrons, as well. Don’t want to repeat that in the next one, you see.

And that’s about it! More than enough to fill up a whole new month, don’t you think?

q || what does your November look like?

Lots of love and warmth this month!
