Six things that have been making me happy lately.
And by ‘two-week holiday’ I mean a ‘week-and-a-half work holiday’ and/or a ‘still-that-tiny-bit-stressy-’cause-they-were-rebuilding-my-roof-for-the-half-of-it holiday’. Can you hear me sighing?
So, yes, it has been a busy couple of weeks, but they have been filled with at least a couple of fun things, as well.
Let’s sum them up, shall we?
the rediscovery of my fancy camera. You know… The one that I spent a lot of money on years ago, so that it could provide me with better pictures, especially for this blog and the webshop it contains, but that I’ve been neglecting for the sake of my easier-to-reach-and-carry phone’s camera? Quite stupid of me, I know, and I’m glad I decided to finally dust it off. First, for the pictures of the new Autumn/Halloween collection, then for taking some nice pictures on our family weekend. It’s been really fun getting the hang of it again, and playing around with its settings. To conclude, a memo to me: drag it with you more often, you won’t regret it.
spooky vibes at home. It wasn’t always easy to focus with all that noise coming from my roof, so I needed a distraction whenever it all became too much for me. Enter my collection of Halloween decorations, which I unpacked and spread across my apartment a liiiiiittle bit earlier than I usually do. They were exactly the pick-me-up I needed in the evenings, when everything turned quiet again and I could finally cosy up with my terrified (that’s an understatement) cats when they finally decided to come out of hiding.
my Autumn watchlist on Letterboxd. Honestly, making this was already fun, let alone starting on my seasonal go-to’s when it comes to movie nights. Carefully curated by poster colour, I hope looking at this list will make you happy, as well, and that it might even provide you with a couple of cosy evenings of your own.
the return of the long hair. Those of you who follow me on Instagram might have already noticed: the long hair is back and I quite love to flaunt it, haha! I was having a bit of a rough time confidence-wise right at the start of my time off work, so the appointment at my miracle-hairdresser’s for a new look came at the absolute perfect time. Heroes, that’s what they are.
my new Autumn/Halloween collection. I really believe that the new illustrations are my best work yet, and I couldn’t be more happy about how they turned out AND how they were received by you. So, to all of you who’ve already ordered: thanks so SO much! And to me: great work, pal. Totally worth all those long nights.
the time away from screens. My iPad in particular, because those long nights - although totally worth it, as mentioned - do tend to knock me out in the long run. From headaches to the more frequent return of heart palpitations due to underlying stress; my body did send me messages that I shouldn’t be spending all this ‘time off’ on my side-hustle. Thank the Gods I have a family (specifically: a mother and a sister) who tend to drag me away from my desk and into the world for a bit. Hooking me up with a couple of feel-good memories to look back on while they’re at it. Heroes, that’s what they are.
And after all that, you ask? Well, I’m just glad to be back on here, and I can’t wait to share the last bits of the year and how I’m filling it up with you!
q || how have you been, these last couple of weeks? Enjoying Autumn?
Lots of love,
