a very crafty Christmas to do list.

A Very Crafty & Christmas-y To Do List

Hi, sweeties! Me again, your friendly neighbourhood creative who has a major case of the ā€˜it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’-bug. Perhaps you’re thinking that it’s not at all too early, but here in Belgium it’s sort of tradition to wait until after a certain other bearded bloke has dropped off his presents. Not a fan, I must say. Not. A. Fan. At all. Might be because he’s been skipping my grown-up ass for years now. Might be because of some poorly aged and frankly embarrassing elements. Who’s to say? What I WILL say, however, is that I’ve finally started to plan what I want to make the coming weeks, and I’m throwing it on here for all to see! Maybe there’s something you’ll want to add to your own list, or maybe it’ll just inspire you to make a crafty list of your own. Find out under this pic!

a bird feeder

Yes, I am quite the fan of sitting in my chair, sipping a hot cup of comfort and just staring out the window to spot some feathery friends. It’s because of this that I can’t help but notice how their numbers have decreased these last few years… That’s terrible news, isn’t it? And it’s only motivated me to hang up even more feeders for those that still decide to spend their winters here. I already have a very cool one that I can just hang up against the window, but I find that it takes a while until they figure out a) it’s even there, and b) how to perch onto the feeder. On to plan B, then! And that’s finding a couple of easy do-it-yourself bird-feeders to help the little fellas through the chilliest season of the year. The good news? You don’t really need a whole lot of material to make a simple, yet effective feeding spot (if you’re not thinking ā€œhouse! Let’s build them an entire house!ā€ that is). The even better news? I might have found a way to combine TWO crafty to do’s. Ah, the cleverness of the internet. ā˜ž

pine cone crafts

Bought on a whim a couple of years ago: a whole bag full of pine cones ready to craft with. Still left in the bag: about half of them, just waiting around and taking up space in an already too small box of Christmas decorations. High time to find some good use for them, I’d say! The search for some good ideas is still going on, though, but I think I’ve found a couple of good contestants to put my own spin on already. What do you think? I think that bird feeder looks like something I should get to ASAP, no? šŸ˜

christmas cards

This’ll be the year, ladies and gentlemen, in which my ideas for a personal Christmas card will have struck in time to actually order and post the things. In fact, I’ve already sketched not one but TWO cards out in my little book, since I’ll be designing my parents’ card as well this year, taking over for my portfolio-occupied brother. Who is a professional animator. Hey, no stress, right? I’m actually really looking forward to digitalising them this weekend, and plan to put in the order at the start of next week. Are you curious? D’you want one? Honestly, DM me your address and you’ll get one. I’d be happy to at least try and deliver a little bit of extra merriment to your mailbox. Gosh knows we all need it. Again. For the second year in a row. Argh.

project gift-wrapping

I’m not saying I’m good at the wrapping itself (my mother, on the other hand, is a total wrapping genius), but I do love putting in some extra work when it comes to making them look pretty underneath that tree of mine. So much so, that I’ve had a whole Pinterest board to inspire me for years now. You can go check it out here!

perfect the annual Star Wars gingerbread cookies

last year’s cookies!

Yes, I do consider baking a craft. Frankly, it just IS. One of the most difficult ones of all, if you ask me! I’ve been making these Star Wars-y gingerbread men for a couple of years now, and I can’t seem to nail down the perfectly soft yet chunky texture that I love so much. That AND the decorating itself could use some improvement this year, which is why I have included it in this list. I’ve always made them rather spontaneously and thus hurriedly, you see, so this year I’ll properly plan them in, put a little more effort and attention into them and we’ll see where it takes me! I’m also thinking about just focusing on one character instead of many, by the way. Who d’you think I should choose, Chewie or Threepio?

design december’s bujo stickers

Evidently, I have less than a week left to get to it and design my December stickers, which is eh… Not a lot of time. I have plenty of ideas, though, so now I just need to find the time in between work and finishing those Christmas cards I mentioned earlier. Chances are I’ll have to squeeze it in while I simultaneously rewatch all those Harry Potter films. ā€˜Tis the season, am I right?

Wish me luck!

Q || do you have anything in the works for christmas? what do you want to create next month?

Lots of love!
