A watchlist of spooky go-tos.
Spooky season is upon us! And if you’re like me - a fan of cosy evenings spent in your sofa, as well as Halloween/Samhain - you’ll have surrounded yourself with all the spooky decorations and candles you could find, and cleared your October schedule for some fun movie nights. To fill up such nights, I personally find myself reaching for the same favourites (almost) every year. I’ll just put them in a quick list for you, but be warned: they are nearly all of the easy-to-watch kind. Or the ‘Halloween for wimps’-kind, if you will. The world is scary enough as it is, hmkay.
Let’s kick it off with my favourite TV shows of the season, because I quite like the fact that I can enjoy these throughout an entire month, or can put on an episode rather than a full-flexed film when I don’t have that much time.
TV SHOWS
Over the Garden Wall
HBO Max
I won’t elaborate on anything else on this list to keep it simple, but I juuuust wanted to quickly say that this one might just be my absolute favourite, and I seriously think EVERYONE should watch it at least once in their lives. It’s beautifully animated and features the voices of Elijah Wood, Collin Dean, Melanie Lynskey, Christopher Lloyd, John Cleese and the brilliant Tim Curry, among others. It really is seasonal bliss, I promise, and you can FINALLY stream it legally here in Belgium.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Disney+
Charmed
Amazon Prime
Agatha All Along
Disney+
What We Do in the Shadows
Disney+
Only Murders in the Building
Disney+
Sabrina, the Teenage Witch
Hulu
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina
Netflix
Wednesday
Netflix
Ghosts
BBC iPlayer
The Haunting of Hill House
Netflix
When it comes to the movies on my list, I’m afraid I own most of these on DVD and thus can’t really tell you if or where you can stream them. I bet you can find lots of them on official services, though, and the others are often available on demand.
MOVIES
The Nightmare Before Christmas
(yes, I’m a ‘now AND around Christmas’-type of girl)
Knives Out and/or Clue for a classic murder mystery.
q || Which ones have you seen? Do you have some favourite spooky go-tos, as well?
Love, always, and enjoy those cosy evenings in!
