A quick reading update.
Finished: Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins.
This one single-handedly brought back my love for reading. I just couldn’t put it down, devoured chapter, after chapter, after chapter, because it was just so full of unexpected plot twists, shocking cliffhangers and amazing characters you can’t help but to mourn in advance. I knew going in that Haymitch’s games were undoubtedly quite traumatising, but I was in no way prepared for that ruthless, fast-paced ending.
Mind you, the Second Quarter Quell itself is but a small part of the story, as well. It’s the run-up to, and the aftermath, that caught me completely off-guard in the best possible way. Can’t wait for Finnick’s book, that’s for sure.
Up next: Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry.
I’m a total sucker for Book Lovers, but have to be honest that I haven’t been able to finish every book in Emily Henry’s repertoire, even though she’s widely represented on my shelves. Nothing to do with her, but I’m just not always in the mood for a cheesy romance, you know? It was especially risky starting this one after another Hunger Games bullseye, but I’m a few chapters in and haven’t had the impulse to reach for any other book in my (pretty extensive, whoops) to be read pile. So far, so good, but when it comes to RomComs? Even when the writing is as brilliant as humanly possible, if I don’t like the characters; I’m out. And I’m still not quite sure about these leads… We’ll see!

Love, always.
