my watchlist lately.
All the favourites I’ve been watching (mostly while drawing super secret stuff and new personal work), and what’s next on the list.
While I don’t try to distract myself when I’m doing high-focus work like sketches or writing, and opt for a fitting playlist in those cases instead, I do tend to switch to a good tv series or a movie when I start colouring my commissions or personal designs. I’ve listed my favourites right beneath here, and will top this post off with what’s next on my watchlist. Let’s go!
watched.
cobra kai.
Let’s start us off with the absolute winner among winners, shall we? I can’t even begin to describe how much I love the Cobra Kai series on Netflix, you see, which is why I can’t recommend it enough. Whether you’ve seen and/or are a fan of the original Karate Kid films or not, I strongly urge you to get into this fun, badass, perfectly-soundtracked streaming gem as soon as possible. Especially since it recently wrapped up its 6 seasons in a near perfect way. Tons of episodes to enjoy, in other words, and they’re nice, short and fast-paced, too!
the white lotus.
I must admit the third season of The White Lotus is not exactly the perfect candidate to put on while working, since it features an even slower build-up than the previous seasons. I did quite enjoy the final episodes, however, not to mention every time Sam Rockwell appeared on my screen. Eyes instantly ripped away from my tablet, that’s for sure.
the righteous gemstones.
Another HBO Max gem, this one, and another series that’s just about to wrap up entirely. Although I’m finding it a bit harder to get into this - final - season in comparison to every previous one, it does feature an amazing intro episode starring Bradley Cooper and a good storyline for the youngest Gemstone brother played by Adam DeVine. This one’s pretty absurd, by the way, but really funny once you get into it. Amazing actor roster, as well, with Walton Goggins being reason enough to give it a chance in case you have White Lotus PTSD.
into the spider-verse.
With all these series I was and am following, my Letterboxd got pretty neglected these last couple of weeks. The two Into the Spider-Verse films were rewatches I can’t help to mention, though, since they’re just so utterly brilliant, pieces of art everyone should at least see once in their lives. And I’m pretty sure you’re going to be hooked, anyway. We watched them for a brand new podcast episode in our Animation is Cinema series, so stay tuned for that one!
what’s next.
andor.
I’m currently flying through a rewatch of Andor season one, as they’re releasing three brand new episodes tomorrow. I’ve been counting down to this FOR AGES, okay, and I CAN’T FRICKIN’ WAIT.
daredevil born again.
According to my brother, Disney is doing a pretty decent job with the reincarnation of Netflix’ Daredevil, so I’m planning to give the old seasons a rewatch (I think I gave up on it even before the previous season aired, oops) and watch the whole thing once the latest season’s finished. Which *should* leave me plenty of time to spend on this last watchlist item:
my Letterboxd spring list.
Neglection = over! I can’t wait to get back into watching more films, and raising my Letterboxd activity back up to its usual standard again. I recently started creating a Spring list to inspire me whenever I don’t know what to watch, but there’s definitely a couple of new releases on my watchlist, too. Can’t wait to get started!
the first couple of films on my Spring watchlist.
q || what’s your favourite thing you’ve watched, recently?
Lots of love & talk to you soon!
